Dungreed - Dungreed is a 2D side-scrolling action game with 2D Rogue-LITE elements.Prologue:A quiet and peaceful town was destroyed by a mysterious dungeon and all the townspeople were sucked into the dungeon. With a few adjustements however, this game can still improve drastically. In short, Dungreed is a fine game, but one that's still rough around the edges. Much like the young Cereza herself, Bayonetta Origins doesn’t look like much on the surface, but this exceptional and refreshing change of pace for the franchise kept a smile permanently plastered on my face. Roguelites best attribute are the quickness of runs and desire to just get in one more run and this game is no different. This game is very fun after the first few runs. Playing through the first section of the game is quickly rendered a chore. A very good roguelite style game that takes a little bit to hook you in. Rescue the townspeople from the dungeon and help them to rebuild the town. Charming pixel-art graphics, dramatic music and unpredictable challenges. After about 6/7 playthroughs of the first area, I know all the rooms and the enemies that spawn within them. Our reputation for service should speak for itself. Expect falling of ledges, missing enemies and openings menu's accidentally as daily business. I get that Dungreed is an indiegame, and it has come a long way in its controls, but it's still pretty clunky. The town, which serves as a hub, feels bland, and so do most of the areas. Where games like Owlboy, Hollow Knight and Dead Cells excel in this area, it's hard to get too caught up in the setting and story. That doesn't help the atmosphere in the game, but that is the next point. Cons: - The music is kinda generic, sometimes even overpowering. This freedom in building your character is rewarding and makes you feel like you really accomplished something when it works out. The upgrade system works not as a plain level up, but rather you investing points in certain perks and you're able to shift them around at your leisure. With TAANA's shield you won't have to eat health fairies. The best item you could hope for is TAANA. I reccomend you use thief costume with 20points on mistics and 5point on attack and 5points for triple jumping. Enemy variety is probably one of the best in any roguelike to date. I'm a dungreed player who finally succeded in ending final chapter after the update. ![]() The enemies all telegraph their moves, but not too much. They serve as gatekeepers to new areas and that fits perfectly with how the game progression is designed. The bosses, without spoiling anything, are great. Pros: - Tons of items and weapons, but not too much, so you can work out quite quickly what you do and do not like. I'm going to catagorize some things to hopefully make you understand why I gave the score I did. If you are a fan of the metroidvania/rogue-lite genre, this one is right up your alley.
